Please note: Use only 100% cotton yarn for this project as it is able to withstand the heat of hot pots, etc. Acrylic yarns can melt and/or burn. 

Materials:
5 mm  needles.
Worsted weight cotton yarn in two contrasting colours.(Main Colour = MC, Contrasting Colour = CC)

(Make 2)

Using MC, cast on 33 stitches, and knit 1 row.

Row 1: with CC, k1, * sl 1, k2. Repeat from * to last 2 stitches, sl 1, k1

Row 2: with CC, k1, *move yarn to back of work, sl 1, move yarn to front of work, k2. Continue from * to end of row, ending with k1 instead of k2.

Row 3: with MC, Knit

Row 4: with MC, Purl

Repeat Row 1 - 4 10 more times. Cast off in MC.

When you've made a second square, stitch the two squares together, with right sides facing outwards.
